WELCOME TO JULEO THOROUGHBREDS
Pre-training, breaking in and horses in training

We offer pre training for as long as desired. We race horses out of our barn and horses at any stage of their racing preparation are welcome. Four weeks pre training is what we mostly do but we can get them all way up to barrier trials and race fitness if wished.

This is one of the most important months in a racehorse life. This is the time where we set the future for a well educated racehorse and it’s very important this is done properly. The racehorse will spend the first of this time in a round yard being taught the basics. It’s also in the round yard the horse will be given their first few rides. Compare to many other breakers our breakers will have the privilege of training on a racetrack with other horses already in their breaking in prep which is a big bonus. The breakers will also be given basic barrier training during this time.

We train and race horses out of our stable. We are perfectly located no matter where your horse has to go to be competitive. Sydney is only a three hours drive and with the well payed weekly highway races for offer we are not afraid to take them there. Provincial tracks Newcastle, Wyong, Gosford and Hawkesbury are just a few hours away and most important we have plenty of country tracks just a few hours from Muswellbrook.

We have lots of experience to prepare breeze up horses up until their breeze up. We offer to break them in and get them well prepared to breeze up professionally without being rushed or pushed.

Re-education services are offered by Juleo Thoroughbreds. Barrier problems, riding problems or ground problems - we are happy to discuss trying to help to solve these issues.

Leandro is well known in the picnic circuit and is the leading rider for the third year in a row. He is an amazing rider with a great horsemanship, and with great horsemanship I really mean it. Anyone that has seen Leandro on a horse knows he is very gifted and professional and if he can’t ride a difficult horse - no one can. Leandro is originally from Brazil where he also rode a few 100 winners as a professional jockey before searching for something different in England. With more than 25 years experience riding racehorses he will be an outstanding member in our team. He worked for some great trainers for 8 years in England before he decided to make the move to Australia. In Australia he has worked for some of the best in the business - James Cummings, Gary Portelli, Robert Quinn, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to name a few.

Julia comes from a non-horsey background but always had a passion for animals since day one. Dreamed about becoming a horse trainer since first getting in contact with the horse racing she knew that was what she one day wanted to be. With some very supportive and responsible parents making her finish school and get a job as a purchase assistant it didn’t take long until she also took out her trainer license in her homeland Sweden. Before looking for more racing-experience and warm weather in Australia she trained 17th winners in Scandinavia and also rode a few winners as an amateur rider. In Australia she started out as a picnic rider but with her light weight she decided to take the step up to ride as an apprentice jockey. Julia has been apprentice to Jarrod Austin, Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott, Gary Portelli and Luke Pepper and ridden 75 winners on both country, provincial and city level.
